Keswick Visitor Guide
The pretty market town of Keswick is nestled in the breathtaking Lake District National Park. Keswick is considered the heart of the northern Lake District with its many attractions, shops and restaurants. In the centre of the town is the popular market, selling award-winning food and handcrafted gifts.
History lovers will enjoy a visit to Castlerigg Stone Circle, one of the first stone circles in Britain and located on a moor with panoramic views over Keswick. Other outdoor attractions include Hope Park with its colourful floral displays, pitch and putt, and bird viewing area. Close by is Fitz Park which is home to the local football and cricket clubs.
Indoors is the Puzzling Place, a fun and unique exhibition with optical illusions and holograms, as well as artwork and sculptures. Another popular indoor attraction is the Theatre by the Lake, located on the tranquil shores of Derwentwater. The setting is truly spectacular and no other British theatre can compete with the stunning surroundings. It stages both classic and new plays, and often hosts literature, jazz and film festivals.
