Canal Holidays Guide to the London Circuit
Our
London base 53 is in West London, on the Paddington arm of the Grand Union Canal. From here you can go east along the canal to Little Venice, Regents Park and London Zoo. Use your floating hotel to visit
Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, see a show and all the sights.
Cruising further east reach Camden Market then through the City of London to Limehouse Basin near Tower Bridge
and the Tower of London. From Limehouse you could take the Docklands Light
Railway past Canary Wharf to the terminus. Then walk under the River
Thames to Greenwich, the Millennium Dome, and the Cutty Sark.
On a week's cruise, and if
the tides are suitable and with permission from the boatyard, you
could join the River Thames at Limehouse and cruise up river past
Westminster and under the bridges to the canal at Brentford and back to base. Please note that a VHF radio licence is needed to cruise up the tidal Thames. Tuition and licence can be obtained at the base.
